Privacy policy
How we handle your information and respect your choices.
Effective date:
The public website is a coming-soon site. Purchases, preorders, account access, downloads and newsletter signup are not offered here. The account, licence and newsletter information below applies when you use those services separately.
1. About us
Crockatoo Studio Pty Ltd trading as Versien, ABN 43 678 307 394, operates versien.com and supplies Versien software. This policy covers our website, customer accounts, purchases, software, newsletters and support.
Privacy: privacy@versien.com
Support: support@versien.com
Address: 15 Wheelwright Gardens, Wellard WA 6170, Australia.
Account holders and newsletter subscribers must be 16 or over. Under-16s may use the app through a parent or guardian's account using the adult's details; we do not ask for the child's personal details.
Our Website Terms and EULA cover website and software use. Privacy choices are separate from accepting those agreements.
2. Information we handle
Depending on your interaction with us, we handle:
- contact and account details, preferences, newsletter choices and email delivery, open and click events;
- purchases, order references, billing information made available to us and licence entitlements;
- activation and validation information, such as a device identifier derived from hardware information, device name, platform, app version, IP address and approximate location;
- support messages and any files or diagnostics you choose to send; and
- website access information and, with permission, Google Analytics information about visits, interactions and devices.
We receive information from you, your device and providers such as Moonbase. Required account, payment or activation information may be necessary to provide the relevant service; optional analytics and marketing are not a condition of purchase or licensed use.
The app does not automatically send crash reports or app usage statistics. Licence checks still send the activation and validation information described above.
3. How we use it
We use information to manage accounts, supply and validate licences, provide downloads and support, send service messages, prevent fraud, maintain security and meet legal and accounting obligations. With your permission, we use Google Analytics to improve the website. If you subscribe, we send newsletters through Moonbase.
Where EU or UK data protection law applies, our legal grounds are performing our contract, legitimate interests in security and support, legal obligations, and consent for optional analytics and marketing. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing and object to processing based on legitimate interests.
4. Our service providers
We use Moonbase for the store, accounts, licensing and newsletters. It handles sales, payments, refunds, tax and related records for its own purposes as seller. It also processes account, licence, activation and newsletter information on our behalf, with limited uses of its own for security and service operations. Its buyer privacy notice explains its practices and retention.
We use Cloudflare for public website hosting and domain services, Apple iCloud for email and support correspondence, and Google for consented website analytics.
Cloudflare processes technical information, including IP addresses, system information and traffic data, to deliver and protect the website. This processing is separate from optional Google Analytics and takes place even when analytics is off.
We may also disclose information to advisers, authorities where required, or a business successor subject to applicable law.
Information is handled in Australia and overseas, including Norway, EU countries such as Ireland, Belgium and Germany, and the United States. Providers may also use other countries in their global infrastructure. Where required for overseas transfers, we use applicable safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. You can contact us for details or a copy of the safeguards relevant to your information.
5. Cookies and choices
The website remembers your theme until you clear browser storage and your analytics choice for 180 days. Google Analytics stays off until you allow it. You can accept, reject or withdraw consent through Privacy settings in the footer of our website.
When enabled, Google Analytics receives visit, interaction and device information and uses analytics cookies, configured to expire after 180 days without extending on later visits. Turning analytics off stops collection, removes those cookies and refreshes the page; it does not delete information already collected by Google. Google advertising features are disabled. See how Google uses information.
Moonbase is not loaded on this public website while sales are closed. If you use Moonbase separately, its store and payment services have their own storage and monitoring described in its buyer privacy notice. The website's Google Analytics choice does not control those services.
There is currently no newsletter signup on this website. Buying a licence does not subscribe you to newsletters. If you subscribe, we use Moonbase to send them and record delivery, opens and link clicks associated with your subscription to understand interest and improve our emails. We ask for separate permission for optional email tracking where required. You can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter or contact privacy@versien.com to withdraw permission. The website's analytics setting does not control newsletter tracking. Essential account and purchase messages may still be sent.
Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not automatically change this website’s optional analytics setting. Analytics remains off until you allow it, and you can withdraw permission in Privacy settings. We do not install advertising pixels on this website.
6. Retention and security
We keep information for as long as needed for its purpose: account and licence records to administer your licence, transaction records for legal and accounting requirements, support records to handle enquiries and related issues, and limited consent or suppression records to respect your choices. We delete or de-identify information when no longer needed, subject to legal obligations or active disputes.
Google Analytics user-data and event-data retention are each set to 14 months. These settings do not apply to standard aggregated reports, and browser-storage lifetimes above are separate. Moonbase's buyer notice describes its own retention requirements and deletion limits.
We take reasonable security measures and limit access to information. Deletion may take time to reach backups, and records needed for legal obligations or licence administration may need to be retained.
7. Your rights and complaints
Please contact privacy@versien.com if you have a privacy question, would like to access or correct your information, or wish to make a complaint. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to deletion, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. To protect your information, we may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within applicable legal time limits. You may complain to the relevant regulator, including the OAIC where it has jurisdiction, or your local data protection authority.
For data held by Moonbase on our behalf, contact us and we will coordinate the request. For its own sales/payment processing, contact privacy@moonbase.sh, as explained in its buyer notice.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as our services or practices change. We will publish the updated date and give additional notice or obtain consent where required.
